Referer spam sucks

It's stunning what people will do to improve their search engine rank. I use webalizer to analyze my web logs and I make that analysis public so I can read it remotely and it's interesting to see where sites are linking to mine. There are, unfortunately, spambots that troll the web looking for these pages and which then make hundreds of requests specifying the spamming site as the referring URL. I'm not the only one who's run into this problem...and more on referer spam, a blogger's nightmare. This ate an hour of my time today :-(.
